2: Daphne and Jim
Daphne's husband died unexpectedly four years ago when she was in her mid-50s. She suffered all the characteristic feelings of bereavement and at one stage even planned her suicide. Jim was also in his mid-50s when he lost his wife two years ago. At that time Jim thought his life had come to an end - but after a year he decided that his wife would not have wanted him to mope around and is picking up his social life again.
