The legend of the Fair Lily
Opera in two acts Text by GOETHE
Music by GISELHER KLEBE
Giselher Klebe , a 44-year-old pupil of Boris Blacher and one of the liveliest minds in musical Germany today, has a number of impressive operas to his credit. This one, his latest, had its premiere at this year's Schwetzingen Festival.
It takes its text from Goethe's
Das Marchen , a fairy tale so overladen with symbolism that it baffled even Goethe's contemporaries.
