In Time of War. Paul Guinery introduces a recent concert in which the BBC Singers performed two settings of the mass with wartime associations. Kodaly's Missa Brevis was written during the Second
World War, and Palestrina used the popular tune L 'HommeArme as the basis for one of his finest settings. The individual movements are interspersed with improvised organ interludes.
