Horizon

How on Earth did they do That?
How did King Kong strip Fay Wray ? How did the tornado carry Dorothy's house to the land of Oz? In the cinema nothing is impossible. The special effects men who make the impossible happen on cue seldom tell their story. Their art is to make the camera lie; to create an illusion of reality.
This programme shows how the cinema has depended on special effects since the very first films, and is a tribute to the skill and ingenuity that makes directors' dreams come true.
