Sir Hubert Parry belonged to a Gloucestershire family and lived in the county, although he was not actually born there. His Prometheus and Job were first produced at Gloucester Festivals; h is Judith and King Saul at B irmi ngham Festivals. His famous setting of Milton's ode, ' Blest Pair of Sirens,' dates from 1887.
This is a celebration of the Choir's birthday. They commemorate each anniversary by visiting some shrine of music and singing a short recital dedicated to the works of one composer. The Choir have just returned from Denmark, where they made a singing-tour at the invitation of the Danish Government, and with their first concert at Copenhagen they opened the new Broad- casting Studio, which seats 1,400 people.
