Talk by Sir Mortimer Wheeler
Professor of the Archaeology of the Roman Provinces in the University of London
Sir Mortimer Wheeler describes the contributions made to modern archaeology by O. G. S. Crawford , and particularly ha pioneer work on the study of man in his relationship to the landscape and in the use of aerial observation and photography in the study of prehistoric agriculture. He explains Dr. Crawford's insistence on the importance of fieldwork, as set out in his recently published book Archaeology in the Field.
