in songs at the piano
In 1927 Jean Melville, who came from Australia, began broadcasting in songs at the piano and piano solos. She was so successful that she was given a two years' contract. She joined the BBC staff as Variety accompanist-a position she held until the end of September, 1936, when she left to fulfil a contract on the halls.
Since October last year she has been appearing in cabaret at Kempinski's, where she is doing a double piano act with Freddie Aspinall who was Elsie Carlisle 's partner for two years. They are to broadcast together on June 26.
Jean Melville's many admirers will welcome her back in a solo broadcast today.
