In the first year of the 20th century. Max Planck published his Quantum Theory and in 1927 Werner Heisenberg proposed his Principle of Uncertainty. Dr Bronowski suggests there is an analogue between the atom and its uncertainty, and the behaviour of an individual in a crowd.
