At midnight tonight Heathrow Airport's new Terminal Four starts operating. Built at a cost of E200 million to handle 22 aircraft at a time and up to eight million passengers a year, it is seen by the British Airports Authority as a great step forward. But a step is what passengers won't see, as lifts and travelators whisk them on board their aircraft.
