Sophisticated con man Lawrence Jamieson makes a tidy living fleecing rich women in the French resort of Beaumont-sur-Mer, until his position is suddenly threatened by the arrival of small-time American rival Freddy Benson. Lawrence takes the brash
American under his wing, however, the pair fall out when they compete in a wager to take rich heiress Janet Colgate to the cleaners with the loser having to leave the Riviera.
Michael Caine can currently be seen in the cinema in Blood and Wine with Jack Nicholson, and Glenne Headly plays Dr Abby Keaton in the TV series ER.
