Hogarth's Prisons

The second of two talks by the author of the recently published biography of Hogarth. Many of Hogarth's pictures are set in a prison or other institution. Professor Paulson traces the theme of enclosure in Hogarth's work and relates It to some aspects of the artist's own life and artistic personality,
An exhibition entitled William Hogarth , Paintings, Engravings, Drawings, is at the Tate Gallery until 6 February.
