Today Thomas S. Szasz, Professor of Psychiatry at the Upstate Medical Center of the State University of New York in Syracuse, suggests that 'suicide should be considered a basic human right.' In his various books, such as The Myth of Mental Illness, Ideology and Insanity, and The Manufacture of Madness, Professor Szasz has attempted to lay the foundations of a new theory of personal conduct.
