Sonata in F played by Denis Matthews (piano)
Denis Matthews is one of the most talented of tndav's younger musicians. He is only twenty-four years old, yet has been.broadcasting, recording, and appeanng at big concerts for years.
Matthews, who studied at Warwick
School as a youngster, won scholarships for piano and composition to the Royal
Academy of Music where, until two years ago, he studied with Harold Craxton and vimiam Alwyn. While at the Academy he won fourteen prizes and published several compositions. Some of these have been broadcast and also played at the National Gallery concerts.
Matthews joined the R.A.F. in 1940 and is now attached to the R.A.F. Orchestra, with whom he has played both at public concerts and for troop entertainments.
