' Cricket in December '
ERIC GILLETT
There was once a cricketer so keen that he kept his copies of the morning paper every day during the cricket season, filed them in order, and read one daily all through the winter, supplementing them, of course, from Wisden as soon as that indispensable work appeared. Eric Gillett is almost as keen.
This evening he is going to reminisce.
He intends to describe incidents that thrilled him last season, and in past seasons, in every kind of cricket. He will tell stories that he has shamelessly filched from cricketers of his acquaintance, and relate some odd experiences of cricket overseas.
Gillett's aim is to appeal to other cricketers (unemployed so unwillingly) who will perhaps turn aside from oiling their bats to spend fifteen minutes in listening to cricket stories which will inevitably remind them of better stories of their own.
