Here is the second broadcast in this new Variety show which made its radio debut with such success on July 8. It is to be given every ten days on alternate Saturdays and Wednesdays, and each Saturday broadcast will be heard by America.
Each week there will be a topical sketch with the signature tune ' He was a Handsome Territorial '. Listeners have already heard the kind of amusing things that can happen when Tommy (Trinder) and Peter (Vokes) join the Army. More laughs to come ... and what will happen if Tommy steals Jasmine (Dee), Peter's girl ?
For the first time that popular radio comedian Tommy Trinder , who has broadcast in so many ' Music-Halls '. is starring in a series. He recently joined the 'Band
Waggon ' company at the Palladium. Peter Vokes took Richard Murdoch 's place in ' Band Waggon ' when the latter was away for his operation. Peter and Jasmine have been doing a double act on the halls.
In each programme a ' Star of the Week' will be interviewed by Vernon Harris , and Geraldo, who has been at the Savoy for eleven years, will introduce a new ballad to be heard on the air for the first time. That big hit ' Deep Purple ', by the way, was introduced by Geraldo as his signature tune five years ago.
