'H.D.' (1856-1961) was an American poetess who came to Europe and became one of the leaders of the 'Imagist' movement in poetry. Her name was Hilda Doolittle (her married name. Mrs Richard Aldington) but she always wrote under the pseudonym of 'H.D.'
