TV Insider: Manners maketh tan
Actress Sarah Manners (right) is relieved to be talking to us about her new role in Casualty (8.10pm BBC1). The questions she's been fielding recently all relate to a Sky 1 series she's starring in called Mile High. As the title suggests, it's about the raunchy antics of an airline cabin crew and starts next week. "You can imagine what all the questions have been about," she admits with a resigned laugh, "and the answer was no every time." Back down to earth, Manners makes her first appearance in Casualty tonight as a flighty new receptionist, a role she also played in the daytime BBC1 series Doctors. "She's a gossip, very nosy and likely to be a bit naughty," she says. The actress's own fake tan proved perfect for the part. "My character Bex is an ex-model who still likes to look good. I'm very pasty, so I use tanning lotion all year around. I was still using it when we were in Majorca filming Mile High. How sad is that?"
