In 1973 most of the citizens Of the State of Michigan were poisoned by a chemical fire retardant that had been fed by mistake to cattle. This poison is noted for its extreme persistence in the bodies of animals - so does it, together with a host of other man-made chemicals, present a serious long-term threat to health?
