As the daughter of J.S. Haldane, the pioneer physiologist and as younger sister of J.B.S. Haldane, the outstanding Marxist biologist and populariser of science, Lady Mitchison grew up in a home dominated by scientific ideas.
She recalls her childhood, when she longed to take part in her brother's scientific adventures.
