Comhairle nan sgoiltean araich: few children now speak Gaelic in those areas where everyone once habitually used the language. Some parents are pinning their hopes for a revival of their nataive tongue in a new playgroup scheme for the under-5s, but the first groups to strike success have been set up south of the Scottish Highland line in the urban central belts.
