Sir Lawrence Mont sees Bobby Ferrar, on Hubert's behalf, at the Foreign Office. Meanwhile Adrian and all the family attend the sudden wedding of Jean Tasburgh and Hubert. Dinny is staying at the Ferses's house as a protection for Diana in case her mentally sick husband becomes difficult.
Jean, now in a stronger position as Hubert's wife, again pleads with Lord Saxenden to use his power against her husband's possible extradition. He gives her an introduction to Bobby Ferrar. They go to the Foreign Office with Hallorsen.
Hubert is brought up at Bow Street on a warrant and is ' remanded till the arrival of supporting evidence.'
Having gained her goodwill, Hallorsen again pleads with Dinny, but she is too concerned for Diana Ferse whose husband is becoming violent. Dinny takes the children to Hilary's. On her return, Diana greets her with the news that Ronald has disappeared.
