Arillo, Texas in 1873: taunted by the town sheriff, Pardon Chato - an Apache half-breed - shoots the man in self-defence and rides out of town. A vicious posse decide to follow him, seeking revenge.
Gradually Chato draws them into his own territory and the manhunt takes a horrifying turn.
