Norway's greatest composer - Grieg's music is deeply rooted in his homeland and he drew widely on his country's folk songs for inspiration. He composed a large quantity of piano pieces and his piano concerto remains one of the most popularintherepertoire.Works plaved this week include the incidental music to Ibsen's Peer Gynt and the song-cycle The Mountain Maid.
