Records of Barbara Mullen, Irish film star

Barbara Mullen was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and although her parents were natives of the Isle of Aran - her father was the fisherman hero of the film, Man of Aran - she first saw the island when she was sixteen. She stayed there for two years and during that time she wrote her autobiography, 'Life Is My Adventure'. At eighteen she came to London to study as an actress, and the name-part in Jeannie at Wyndham's in 1940 won for her the recognition she deserves.
