As a prelude to Radio 3's Kurt Weill Weekend, John McGlinn conducts the BBC Singers and the BBC Concert Orchestra in a production of Weill's 1943 musical One Touch of Venus, a humorous indictment of the suburban American Dream.
The show was the composer's greatest commercial success, although nowadays most of the score is only known to aficionados. This production features previously neglected numbers.
Lyrics by Ogden Nash, adapted by broadcaster and writer Robert Cushman.
