talks to Lindsay Anderson (Wales: see Variations)
Rudolf Nureyev was a rising young star of the Leningrad Kirov Ballet when in 1961 circumstances led him to make his impulsive decision to stay in the West. As a result one June morning he found himself in a room in Paris without money, job or prospects.
In just over 12 years he has become without question the superstar of the dance. Less known is the fact that he makes and produces ballets - and recently directed a film of his production of the classic Don Quixote.
In this conversation filmed for Omnibus with theatre and film director LINDSAY ANDERSON he remembers the past and talks about some of his ideas for the future.
