A reading by H. S. Ede from the translation of Edward Marsh
On June 28 H. S. Ede read a selection from the Fables of La Fontaine in the translation by Sir Edward Marsh , which is well known for the clever and exceedingly amusing way in which the fables have been freely adapted for everyday speech. Tonight he is to read a further selection, the fables being : — ' Cat into Lady ', ' The Drunkard and his Wife', 'The Gardener and the Squire ', ' The Lion and the Gnat', ' The Old Man and the Three Youths ', ' The Oak and the Reed '. He will give yet another reading on July 17.
