The Smallest Theatre

on BBC One London

Immortalised in the Guinness Book of Records, a converted cowshed in the wilds of Scotland has, for the past 20 years, housed 'The Smallest Theatre in Great Britain'. Husband and wife Barrie and Marianne Hesketh have been the sole directors, designers and cast for every production, including their famous two-hander version of The Tempest.
Sadly this year Marianne died, and by way of a tribute Arena revisits the tiny theatre where for so long it seemed that no production was impossible 'although Ben Hur might be difficult' said Barrie Hesketh , 'because of the horses'.
