Who is Sappho?

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Over 2,500 years ago on the Greek island of Lesbos, Sappho lived and flourished as a lyric poet, and ever since her work has been acclaimed by writers and scholars. Frank Delaney , in conversation with the poet Judith Kazantzis and two classical scholars, Professor Mary Lefkowitz and Dr Angus Bowie , seeks out the woman beyond the myths and her poems which still speak directly to us today.
