Opera in 1916. In 1924, at the express invitation of Toscanini. she made her début on the stage of La Scala. as Freia in Das Rheingold. Thereafter she established herself as one of the world's leading dramatic sopranos.
Now entering her 90th year, dame EVA talks to Elisabeth Hutchings about her life and times on and off the operatic stage.
