Madame, with goffering irons, is finishing a cap ; Rose Jordon stands on a chair putting paper packets of collars and cuffs into pigeon-holes ; Clem (Mrs.) Galloway is mending socks, etc. ; Celeste is sitting on a centre table marking off collars, etc., into account book, or slipping pink tissue paper into a stack of shirts, and singing as she swings her feet.
