The Vocal Art of Caruso

on BBC Radio 3

The great Italian tenor
Enrico Caruso was born 100 years ago. on 25 February 1873. During his career he made recordings of many of his most celebrated operatic roles. Despite their technical imperfections, these recordings preserve something of his phenomenal talents as a singer and interpreter. Like all singers NIGEL DOUGLAS reveres Caruso and in this personal tribute to his artistry he includes extracts from L'Elisir d'Amorc, L'Africaine, 11 Trovatore, La Bohème and Pagliacci.
