on BBC One London

More advice from Professor Ian Philp on lifestyle improvements, plus host Desmond Lynam revealing the truth about his "real age".

HEALTH
Are You Younger than You Think? 9.10pm, 11.10pm BBC1
You're trying to eat your five portions of fruit and veg a day. You've given up smoking. You even walk up the stairs occasionally. But does your recent attempt at a healthy lifestyle mean you'll live longer? Or have years of over-indulgence and inactivity aged you prematurely and permanently?
This live interactive show claims to tell you how fast your body is ageing, regardless of the numbers on your birth certificate. There's also advice on keeping young, plus tips for increasing your longevity, which include flossing your teeth (see below in The Inside Story for the reason why).
Desmond Lynam is in the studio to test the health of the audience and various celebrities. Those of us at home with the strength to lift a pen, press the red button on our remotes or pick up our WAP-enabled phones can take part too. JR

THE INSIDE STORY
We all know that eating healthily and exercising can make us live longer - but did you know that believing in God and flossing your teeth can help? "There's actually a science to this," says Professor Ian Philp (right), one of the experts appearing in Are You Youngerthan You Think? (9.10pm, 11.10pm BBC1). "If you floss your teeth, you have fewer bacteria in your mouth, bacteria that can trigger a chain of events that bring forward heart disease."
And religion? "I worked with a colleague who was studying the impact of religion on health, and it was true that people who were religious lived longer and were healthier. If you're religious, you probably believe that God has a part to play in it; if you're not, you could think of it as a psychological support system," says Professor Philp. "It's maybe quite nice to have a friend in Jesus!"
