A documentary of life in the Yorkshire Dales
Narrator Leslie Sands The climax of the year for the sheep farmers of the Yorkshire Dales is the October sale of shearling rams at Hawes in Wensleydale. There are similar sales at other centres in the North of England where every year, it seems, new record prices are reached for the handsome
Swaledale rams from which many of next spring's lambs will be bred. This year at Hawes the new record price was £13,000, even though the average price was, at E605, a good deal less than that.
In this programme, recorded in and around Hawes, farmers from the Dales talk about their lives amid what they and others claim is the most beautiful scenery in the world.
