A Commentary on the Inter-Zone Final by Capt. H. B. T. WAKELAM
Relayed from the Centre Court,
Wimbledon
In the competition for the Davis Cup, the winners in any given year defend their title in the following year, and the final of the Inter-Zone, which is equivalent to a semi-final and decides what country shall finally challenge the holders, is always played in the country of the holders. Two years ago Great Britain wrested the cup from France, who had won it six years in succession, following seven consecutive wins by the United States. Thus in 1933 the Challenge round was the first played in England since 1913.
The commentary listeners arc to hear this afternoon will be on the Inter-Zone Final, the winners of which are to meet Great Britain next Saturday.
