Aconcert by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under its chief conductor Leonard Slatkin , recorded on Sunday night at the Barbican Centre, London. Alongside Korngold's romantic violin concerto are Sibelius's nationalistic second symphony and the European premiere of a BBC commission from the young British composer Joseph Phibbs. In Camera explores musical perspective: the different types of smaller ensembles created within the orchestra, and orchestral foreground and background. Phibbs was also influenced by the many rich and varied landscapes he saw during his recent studies in the USA.
