Miss Julie by AUGUST STRINDBERG translated by MICHAEL MEYER with Janet Suzman and David Buck
Strindberg described this play as 'the first Swedish naturalistic drama.' When it was first performed in 1889 it was violently attacked for immorality, but gradually changes in public attitudes allowed Miss Julie to be recognised for the powerful tragedy it is.
