Schutz in Italy

Schutz made two journeys to Italy, the first in 1609 and the second in the late 1620s. Both made a profound effect on him. In the first of two talks Denis Arnold, Professor of Music in the University of Nottingham, shows why, and discusses the impact of Giovanni Gabrieli on his style.
