The Reith Lectures 1976: Mechanics of the Mind: 2: Chang Tsu and the Butterfly

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Six talks by Dr Colin Blakemore, Fellow of Downing College, and Royal Society, Locke Research Fellow at Cambridge University.
In his first lecture Dr Blakemore portrayed the philosophical backdrop of today's brain research. He goes on in his second talk to examine what is perhaps the central problem for students of the mind - that of human consciousness. He argues that there is no reason to believe that the scientific method will fail to account for this phenomenon.
