The Religious Significance of the Coronation
Lawrence E. Tanner , M.V.O.,
F.R.Hist.S.,
Keeper of the Muniments and Sub-Librarian, Westminster Abbey
Throughout the Coronation Service there is, in the solemn acts and movements and in the many sacred objects and emblems, a religious significance, sometimes with deep roots in British history. Mr. Lawrence Tanner's explanation of many of these will make it easier for listeners to follow the Coronation Service. Mr. Tanner, by the way, is the author of the programme ' The King's Chair ', broadcast today on Regional at 4.30.
