The scene is Blackpool - Lancashire's oasis - mecca for thousands of thirsty travellers raring to have a go. But the Blackpool of yore is changing. The new concessionaires are replacing the ornament of the past with the gimcrack of the present. Wrought-iron gives way to plastic, a trip up the Tower is now an Apollo Space Ride. But the spirit of Blackpool lives on, and Colin Welland joins three generations of Blackpool lovers who, despite all, still manage to 'Have their Lovely Time.'
