The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau: The Fish That Swallowed Jonah

on BBC One London

The famous underwater explorer takes his research vessel Calypso on another voyage of adventure and scientific discovery.
Mystery surrounds the epic adventures of Jonah. Legend has it that a whale swallowed him but perhaps a giant grouper did the job? Groupers have powerful jaws and strong throat muscles; they can suck in and swallow prey almost as large as themselves.
Cousteau and his crew find groupers lurking in underwater caves off Belize. There they migrate for an annual spawning spree which for many becomes a dance of death at the end of a fishing line.
