'How to Write a Hit'

Writing a popular song, in six childishly easy lessons. Lesson 1 : the ' She-loves-me ' theme. Record programme arranged and written by Alec Bristow
This is the first of a series of six programmes by Alec Bristow , who will, in his own inimitable way, show aspirants how best they may open the golden gates to success in song writing. It is Bristow's contention-and this is probably borne out by most who have studied the subject-that the world of Tin Pan Alley sells its wares on a few strictly limited themes. Certainly it would he hard to find any outside the six hardy perennials that are the subject of these programmes. Those that follow today's will be : She Loves Me Not ', ' Tiny Hands '. Silver-Haired Lady ', ' Smile Till It Hurts ', and ' Boots and Saddle '.
