Lives in a Landscape

on BBC Radio 4 FM

4/6 The Lyke Wake Walk. Fifty years ago, a Yorkshire farmer. Bill Cowley , proposed a 40-mile walk across the North York moors, linking burial mounds and without passing through any villages. Bill is now dead and the number of walkers is dwindling. But one group of enthusiasts don't want the walk to die and have formed a breakaway New Lyke Wake Club. As the walkers set out on their final trek, there's friction in the high heather. Producer Sara Jane Hall
