The Battle of Britain

on BBC One London

Through French eyes
Introduced by Group Captain Peter Townsend, D.S.O., D.F.C.

Twenty-seven years ago today the Battle of Britain was at its height. On September 15, 1940, the Royal Air Force claimed its greatest victory and two days later Hitler postponed his plans for the invasion of England.
This French programme, using film from both British and German sources, tells the story of one of the most decisive battles of the second world war.
