Repertory in Britain Fair Maid of the West by THOMAS HEYWOOD with The Northcott Theatre Company, Exeter, in a new musical version adapted by JACK EMERY , with authentic songs of the period and after. Written in 1600, this roistering part-melodrama, part-comedy, part-patriotic tableau tells the story of the faithful Bess Bridges, the virgin barmaid of 17 who takes on the Spanish empire virtually single-handed for devotion to her Captain Spencer.
