Salve Regina sung by the Schola Polyphonica
Director, Henry Washington
An Eton College statute of 1444 ruling that Salve Regina should be sung at Compline dur ng Lent may account for the large number of polyphonic settings of this antiphon in the Eton Cho:rbook. The text is longer than usual, due to tropes (or interpolations) of English or gin. This transcription of a setting by Cornyshe has been made by Frank Harrison. D.S
