On the bleak Texas gulf coast two young people meet. A white Southern girl, uneducated, unmarried and pregnant finds a home and temporary security in an unoccupied beach house. Until another fugitive arrives, also seeking refuge from a hostile world. He is a lawyer from the North, now on the run from the police - and black.
