Six speculations on life in the computer age. with Robert Powell
5: The Forgery
Suppose that artificial intelligence research finally pays off: that computers write poetry, paint pictures, compose music. Imagine that television can do without actors and radio no longer needs the human voice; that a film producer used technology to recreate a famous film star's presence on the screen and the star took legal action. What if the ultimate prophesy of computer science came true; if machines outstripped the ability of human brain?
Would there be anything left for people to do?
