Nazim Hikmet was bom in Turkey in 1902. For long periods of his life his poetry was banned in his country, and he was imprisoned four times. Only recently have the authorities allowed some of his work to be published, yet he is the most celebrated poet in Turkey today. Harold Pinter introduces and reads the poems of Nazim Hikmet.
